DSQUARED² He Wood Silver Wind Wood – A Pleasant Woody Aroma

Fragrance Review

Yesterday offered me a pleasant surprise with respect to interesting perfumes. I was testing (again!), the new He Wood Silver Wind Wood from DSQUARED². The fourth chapter in the He Wood story arrived on the market in February 2011 as an masculine fragrance, developed by perfumer . The scent was presented along its feminine counterpart She Wood Golden Light Wood, the two having the as source of inspiration.

In spite of the fact that this was not the first time that I was able to sniff it, He Wood Silver Wind Wood did not manage to surprise me as it did yesterday. The aroma of incense that is employed in the top notes is sheer pleasure and on top of that it escorts the fragrance throughout the entire development stages.

I guess everybody is accustomed to the symbols employed in Dean and Dan Caten’s scents, therefore this time they play as well a major part in the structure of Silver Wind Wood. The opening of the perfume is silver and includes accords of lavender, sage and incense, the latter rendering an original first impression. Later, as the scent moves slowly into its mid development, the wind facet is revealed, thanks to a combination of musk, nutmeg and some floral accords. Anyway, the heart happens after 20 minutes and by 2 hours from the initial spray, He Wood Silver Wind Wood was already entering dry down. The final phase blends cedar, vetiver, amber and vanilla.

Like with the previous version, the flask that holds the fragrance is framed in dark grey wood, adorned with silver printings, while the glass has a metallic appearance. With so few fragrances that might be deemed interesting, He Wood Silver Wind Wood is a pleasant exception.
