Dolce&Gabbana D&G Masculine – For the Young and Beautiful

Fragrance Review

arrived on the market in 1999, as a fragrance developed by perfumer . Together with its feminine counterpart D&G Feminine, the scent was introduced as a fragrance pair, those embodying ’s vision over the preferences of youngsters.

Five years subsequent to the launch I finally tested and taking into account that in that period I was accustomed to pass a superficial judgment on the majority of scents (read: I liked pretty much everything!) this scent inspired me a buying thought. Luckily it did not become reality and thankfully my taste acquired better standards in time, so now when I think of citruses strikes me as the most complex.

The opening in D&G Masculine is reserved to citrus notes, in which bergamot is the dominant, juxtaposed to lemon tree leaves and kumquat. Then, as the heart advances quickly, the perfume enters a composition in which peppermint fights for prominence, subdued by thyme, caraway, basil and clary sage. The final part represents the woody facet of D&G Masculine, thanks to a combination of and cedar, joined by vetiver, musk and fig leaf.

As I mentioned earlier, D&G Masculine was inspired by the young generation and their uncomplicated style. To reflect this, a transparent glass bottle sporting a cylindrical shape encloses the fragrance, while the liquid’s color is yellow. The same design is available in the female version, while both flasks are topped by a metallic stopper. Overall, D&G Masculine is a fragrance appropriate for the 18-24 group of age, a time in life when one’s aspirations are not set so high.
