The Fashion House of Donna Karan was established in 1985 by the American fashion designer, who worked previously for Anne Klein. DKNY was launched in 1989 and represents an extension of the house fashion line, as a more affordable line of clothing aimed at the younger women, next to the existing Donna Karan New York label.
My first olfactory contact with Donna Karan happened in the year 2000, soon after the release of their citrus aromatic fragrance, dedicated to the urban resident of the large metropolis. The initial impression on DKNY Men was projected by the interesting bottle that evokes the rectangular shapes of the Manhattan sky scrapers. The elegant half opaque glass reveals the soft blue color of the liquid, while the stopper with the same arrangement adds a touch of class to the construction.
Given that at the time of testing DKNY Men this was a fresh release, I was approached by a sales assistant who offered to spray my wrist with the tester. Later on, upon analyzing the composition, the fresh spicy and woody accords proved to be the type of scent that a man needs, during his hectic city life. DKNY Men opens with a blend of ginger and mandarin orange, which is followed in half an hour by a sophisticated combination of juniper and ivy. In the mid development, the woody character is revealed, by a mixture of sandalwood and maple.
DKNY Men is all that you need when you live in a city that invades your personal space; by putting the fragrance on, you will benefit from a personal barrier against the tough city life.
