With an ever increasing number of launches every year, I’m constantly failing to keep up with the news. In light of this and because I intend to sample as much as I can, I’m making up for this by browsing perfume reviews from a couple of blogs that matter (in my opinion). These posts are written by people who were lucky enough to sample the newest perfumes ahead of me and are merely offering me a guidance with respect to which might constitute the topic of a future post.
As anyone might have guess, I’m not allowing the respective reviews to have an influence on my opinion in any way. Having said that and not only due to the fact that one of the posts noticed within the last couple of months was praising highly L’Homme Infini, I entered this perfume on my “selected for a test” list. L’Homme Infini arrived on the market in November 2012 as a masculine woody chypre, developed by perfumer Yann Vasnier and represents the latest release from Divine (Dinard-based French niche perfume house, founded by Yvon Mouchel).
Because this was my first perfume sniffed from Divine (Yann Vasnier has created most of their products!), I confess I was looking forward a masculine essence per-se, that had enough to impress me in order to recommend it further. Instead, I tested a well-done perfume that does not differentiate itself from the multitude of male perfumes available on the market. Except the fact that belongs to a niche market.
L’Homme Infini starts off with a spicy accent, which is followed quite soon by a note of ginger that sets the atmosphere for the mid development. By the time the fragrance reaches its dry down, it shifts to a woody facet, highlighted by the interesting ingredients employed at this stage. The official notes encompass coriander leaf, grain, elemi, black pepper, oak, cedar, agarwood, vetiver, amber, serenolide and benzoin.
The bottle that holds the essence is made from an opaque material that sports a deep blue color, hence making impossible to observe the liquid. Ideal for a man that prefers the understated elegance but at the same time does not wish to wear a mainstream fragrance, L’Homme Infini might be the response which caters to those needs.
