Diesel Loverdose – Nothing but Love

Fragrance Review

Although it was launched last year and benefitted from plenty of favorable reviews, I never had a chance to sniff Loverdose, the most recent fragrance from Diesel dedicated to young girls. This unfortunate deficiency was solved the past weekend, when this feminine fragrance developed by perfumers and revealed itself as an interesting aroma that smells like tobacco in the beginning. The name of the scent is symbolizing first the more intuitive word “Lover Dose”, but also the construction “Love Overdose”, an interpretation that requires more imagination. Advertised on the official website with the tagline “the new elixir of love” and “a weapon of seduction” Loverdose reportedly contains ‘molecule A’, an ingredient “known to stimulate endless addiction to love”, as described on the same official website.

The structure of this fragrance is based on liquorice absolute and ambroxan, two molecules present in top, respectively base notes. Therefore, the opening in Loverdose represents a blend of and star anise, followed closely by a heart imbued with liquorice absolute and , the latter intended as a balance to the whole composition. The final part of this interesting fragrance is composed of ambroxan, sweet vanilla, cedar wood and .

In spite of its quite ugly bottle (the shape of it is supposed to replicate a heart, pierced with something that could be a dagger), made from purple-shaded glass, Loverdose is a nice enough fragrance that might be an excellent suggestion for the upcoming hot season. The face present in the video commercial is the young American model , with an image that relies mainly on love, while managing to convey the seductive character of this fragrance.
