D&G Anthology Le Bateleur 1 – A Dull Scent

DnG Anthology Le Bateleur 1_100ml

Fragrance Review

In September 2009 Dolce & Gabbana presented the D&G Anthology collection, composed of 5 aimed at conquering the market and the hearts of the public. However, in spite of the carefully planed campaign, the fashion house was not successful in gaining the respect of the public. Even tough the Peruvian fashion photographer was employed for an formed exclusively of celebrities shot naked, this was no excuse for the poor quality of the products, which began with the bottle and ended with the perfume.

Le Bateleur 1 belongs to the olfactory group and is constructed around only 3 ingredients: Virginia cedar, vetiver and water notes, with accent on the last one. The fragrance has nothing innovative and the sensation of “cheap” transmitted by the bottle and the smell can’t be overruled by anything. It is like the shower gel decided to transform into a perfume over night.

According to the official statements, the collection was inspired by tarot cards and their marks, but I’m convinced that even these cards smell better than the perfumes belonging to the collection. Face of this ad for this fragrance is the famous male model who does not save it from a total disaster.

I am sad to realize that what could possible become a fine idea was wasted, however one thing succeed for Dolce&Gabbana with this collection and this is the opening of a trend, since (unfortunately!) in 2010 and in 2011 walked on their steps with their Big Pony 1, 2, 3, 4 (not that bad, but maybe I’m simply subjective!) and L.12.12 Blue, Green and White, respectively. I can’t believe that this came from a house that enchanted us over the years with perfumes like: Light Blue, Sicily, The One and The One Gentleman.
