Seizing an opportunity derived from the huge success of 1998’s Cool Water, Davidoff introduced in September 2009 a more provocative version of the latter, called Hot Water. This new fragrance belongs to the oriental spicy olfactory group and represents “a man living an intense passionate moment”, as described in the official website. I tested the scent soon after its launch and it produced me a pleasant first impression.
In Hot Water, all the ingredients and the chromatic have been carefully selected to illustrate the passion. First, Hot Water opens with a sensual combination of red basil, absinthe and wormwood. The mid development is the stage in which the heat accumulates, generated by the hot pimento and patchouli. The dry down features Siam benzoin, responsible for the total seduction. To describe Hot Water in a single phrase would be the perfume that begins with a freshness sensation and concludes with a “burning trail”.
Red, the color of passion was selected for the packaging and the bottle. “An explosively contrasting creation – a smooth black cap and clever faux-side grip embrace the explosive crystal rouge body to make the flacon a stand-out object of outright beauty regardless of its delightfully steamy contents”, says the official website, and this captures the essence of passion.
The video advertisement features a 30 seconds black and white story, with the clear intention of focusing the spotlight on the red bottle and making a contrast with it. The setting selected was a Brazilian beach and for the supporting actors, 2 professional models, the Greek Alexis Papa and the Californian Alyssa Miller.
Hot Water projects fine on my skin, being the ideal type of scent for the hot summer days, especially if you are an active man.
