Fragrance Review

In the spring of 2006, my mother received a perfume for a gift: the recently launched (at that time) Cool Water Woman Summer Fizz. The summer limited edition and flanker to the classic 1996’s Cool Water Woman was presented as fragrance, part of a duo called “Summer Fizz” collection, which included its masculine counterpart, Cool Water Deep Summer Fizz. According to the small description from the press release, the scents were “updated with a dash of citrus and mint in the top notes”.

As my mother did not fully appreciated the scent, she decided later to give it away, however I found it quite interesting for a flanker, mainly due to its refreshing combination found in the top notes. Cool Water Woman Summer Fizz has a construction which opens baldly, with a combination of bergamot (the dominant note in here) and subdued accords of peach and honeysuckle, in an allusion to an invigorating summer soft drink. Next, in no more than 20 minutes the heart of this summer fragrance is revealed, with an aroma of fresh mint dominated by the note of lemon. The dry down lingers for approximately 1 hours and a half, after which the replacement comes in the shape of a warm and powdery base, imbued with accords of sandalwood and sensual white musk.

Davidoff Cool Water Woman Summer Fizz was presented in a flask that remains faithful to the shape introduced with Cool Water Woman however this time instead of the transparent glass there is a frozen one and decorated with suggestive images that imply the citrus notes found in the composition (lemon, bergamot, etc.). The name “Summer Fizz” in printed with yellow, in contrast with the blue color scheme of the packaging box.
