It was the year 1988 when Davidoff introduced 2 new perfumes (at that time!): Cool Water and Zino. Both of them enjoyed huge popularity, however the “test of time” was different in these 2 situations: while Cool Water took advantage from its numerous flankers and special editions (summer versions), Zino turned into an almost extinct perfume, in spite of the ever growing demand. But, this is one marketing strategy that does not necessarily concern us; what should be thankfully for is the fact that today we have Cool Water which stands for the values once represented by Zino Davidoff: passion for quality and tradition in manufacturing.
Cool Water is an aromatic aquatic fragrance for men, developed by perfumer Pierre Bourdon. As described in the official website: “Often imitated, never equaled, Davidoff Cool Water is a unique combination of vitality and extreme sensations: the essence of a man in nature”, this scent evokes the captivating force found in one of the 4 classical elements: water. The man that wears Cool Water is prepared to demonstrate his strength by diving into the blue waters of the ocean.
The fragrance opens with fresh spicy accords, due to the combination of mint, lavender, green notes, sea water, coriander and rosemary. The first sensation upon smelling Cool Water is freshness, similar to taking a bath into the cold water. While the top notes fade slowly away, they are replaced by the heart notes, encompassing the elegance of sandalwood, mixed with soft flowers: geranium, neroli and jasmine. The dry down evokes exclusivity, obtained from the blend of tobacco leaf, warm amber, cedar, oakmoss and white musk.
The “new freshness” category invented by Cool Water continues in the image department as well, in which the blue chromatic chosen is meant to transmit the “essential link with the ocean”. The bottle is simple, having the brand’s logo printed in white and a black cap which accentuates its masculinity. The box reminds of the blue color of the calm ocean in a beautiful summer morning.
Last year, a new video advertisement was shot, featuring the American actor Paul Walker who jumps into the ocean for a total effect. Cool Water comes as a classic addition to your collection that will awake your senses.
