Collistar is an Italian company, which functioned as the cosmetic division of a pharmaceutical chain until the arrival of Daniela Sacerdote as general manager in 1982. Eleven years later, in 1993, Collistar was bought by Bolton Group and these days the company is an exponent of innovation in the business.
The début in perfumery happened in October 2009 with Acqua Attiva, a woody aromatic masculine fragrance developed by famous perfumer Alberto Morillas. The inspiration for this perfume was explained by its creator with the phrase: “I wanted to give it an innovative and original olfactory structure” and thus resulted a special creation which does not follow the usual olfactory pyramid being structured in something called “an opera prima in 4 movements” in the description from the official website. This structure is interpreted like “4 chords which merge together in perfect olfactory harmony”.
The first movement in Acqua Attiva’s structure is represented by a blend of bergamot, grapefruit, freesia and citron flowers. On the second movement, the scent turns aromatic, thanks to the combination of Eucalyptus and santolina, juxtaposed by the spicy cardamom. At the 3rd movement, the woody facet is revealed: vetiver and musk provide the accords. Finally, in the last stage, a unique trail of musk manages to highlight the bright and fresh character of the fragrance.
Acqua Attiva comes in a bottle that features a subtle and masculine design. The classic rectangular shape of the transparent galls is topped by an aluminum stopper and this image evokes a block of glass, dedicated to a strong personality. I sampled Acqua Attiva last summer, during our Barcelona vacation, when we were in the beautiful El Corte Ingles from Plaça Catalunya and I was about to purchase it, however changed my mind in the last moment. The fragrance bursts vitality and comfort, being one of the most interesting summer fragrances in my opinion.
