The cosmetic company established in 1968 by Estée Lauder, Clinique was the first in the business that presented products tested for allergies and endorsed by dermatologists. The story mentions that behind the brand was the daughter-in-law of Estée Lauder, Evelyn, who imagined the name and created its line of products. Reportedly, she found the inspiration after reading an article in Vogue Magazine, entitled “Can Great Skin Be Created” and dedicated to the importance of a skin care routine.
Later on, in 1971, Clinique presented their first fragrance, called Aromatics Elixir, a chypre floral fragrance for women. Their best seller perfume for women, Happy, arrived on the market in 1998. One year after, in 1999, Happy for Men was introduced as a citrus aromatic fragrance. Advertised as a refreshing perfume with an overdose of citrus, Happy for Men is my second favorite from the citrus fragrances available today (the first is Artisan from John Varvatos).
The first impression upon smelling Happy for Men is happiness brought to you by the cleverly selected ingredients that manage to create a perfume with a unique character. The beginning bursts with intoxicating citrus mixed with sea accords: Lime, Mandarin orange, Green note, Marine note. After this shot of energy, you feel prepared for the approaching white floral accords, built from Lily-of-the-Valley, Rose, freesia and jasmine. In the dry down, the elegant cedar wood and Guaiac wood are combined with musk and cypress for a pure enchantment. The bottle of Happy for Men inspires sober elegance, obtained from the combination of transparent glass with orange color and the metallic stopper.
Happiness, the ideal of mankind, might be achieved through this fragrance that transmits you a joy a life which is exceptional in perfumery these days and even though you feel that the things are not so simple, Happy for Men is an uplifting scent that urges you to a better appreciation of the finer things in life.
