Fragrance Review

Exhibiting a simple design that aims at seeking profundity, CK Free is a fragrance for men, introduced by in August 2009 and developed by 2 perfumers from : and . According to the description on the official website, this Eau de Toilette is “inspired by the spirit of modern, independent man”. Of course, this tendency is highlighted by the chosen name, but overall it gave me the impression of a clear, very discrete scent that is perfect if you want to lose yourself in the unknown.

I tested CK Free soon after its arrival on the market, because I was in search of something special (read the new Obsession! or even better) and I can not say that my impression was for from OK, except the fact that my expectations were extremely high and all I could detect was a polite scent in which the green, woody and aromatic accords are dominant.

The opening is meant to clear your mind and to awake the senses, with notes of absinthe, jackfruit, star anise and juniper berry. Then, the heart follows with a special blend of South African buchu, suede, coffee absolute and tobacco leaves. The sensation is invigorating at this stage after which it dries down to a woody character, structured on the combination from Costa Rican ironwood, oakwood, patchouli and Texan cedarwood.

The bottle of CK Free is made of transparent glass, revealing the blue color of the liquid and inspiring simplicity and restrained elegance. The video advertisement was directed by and features the Northern Irish actor and model in an urge to run free and liberate your existence from all the constraints of the modern life.
