Fragrance Review

Chanel N°19 is an iconic fragrance, which comes associated with a least two symbols. First, there’s the number 19 which represents the birth date of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel (born on August 19, 1883). Then, Chanel N°19 was launched in 1970, at the time when was 87 years old, which makes it the final fragrance personally chosen by French fashion designer, because one later she passed away. And to conclude, this feminine fragrance was developed by , successor of , the legendary Russian and French perfumer who became famous for creating Chanel N°5.

I tested Chanel N°19 last year with a substantial help from my wife and in spite of the fact that this is not one of her favorites, I discovered a feminine and very pleasant essence, showcased by incorporating iris in its formula, an extremely pricey ingredient imported exclusively from Florence, Italy. Chanel N°19 opens on floral accords, from the blend of Iranian galbanum, neroli from Grasse, hyacinth and bergamot. Later, while the heart develops, you will perceive its floral facet built with Rose of May, Florentine iris, Lily-of-the-Valley and jasmine. The dry down shapes the olfactory signature of Chanel N°19, encompassing Virginia cedarwood, vetiver, musk and leather accords.

The bottle that holds Chanel N°19 was conceived by Coco Chanel, but the final result was adapted and shaped by the late artistic director of Chanel House, . The square shape of the transparent glass that reminds of the classic Chanel N°5 reveals a soft green liquid that exerts a magnetic fascination. Chanel N°19 is ideal for the stylish woman, distinguished by audacity and a self-confident personality.
