Chanel Coco Perfume Review
One of the classics from the legendary house of Chanel, Coco is an oriental spicy fragrance that could be described by one word: elegance. Introduced in 1984, Coco was developed by the in-house perfumer from Chanel, Jacques Polge. The face selected for the ad campaign is Vanessa Paradis, an inspired decision for a delicate, yet powerful personality.
From my first encounter with Coco, sampled on my wife’s skin, I was pleased with its powerful accords that were announcing a very stylish scent. The top notes delighted me with a powerful mix of peach, mandarin orange and rose. The rose is present in Coco was very powerful and I detected also a hint of jasmine, then the accords faded away, in order to leave room for the heart, with refreshing floral notes of cloves, orange blossom and rose (again!). When the heart disappeared I felt overwhelmed by he base notes with amber, sandalwood, tonka bean, vanillam civet and opoponax notes. The strong resin of opoponax and the animalic dose from civet (nowadays, replaced unfortunately by synthetic ingredients!) constitute the essence of Coco, meant to awake your senses.
And since the image of Coco oozes with elegance, the same thing goes for the bottle, which is designed in straight, perfectly cut lines, accompanied by rounded rims, so that the sensation of touch could be pleasant. The stopper is a work of art, reminding of the classic Chanel line, completed with a black seal at the bottom, while the liquid’s color is gold, reminiscent of the precious metal.
Coco Chanel is a legendary scent, for the woman who desires to feel wanted and elegant, an uncompromising statement of the personal style.
