There are moments in which the thing we are looking for is right in front of us and yet we are not able to perceive it. Until one day, when we realize the truth. That’s exactly what happened to me with Allure, taking into account that I was familiar with the Homme Sport version, introduced in 2004 and tested almost immediately, however never bothered to give a try to the original, until I sampled its feminine counterpart.
Allure Pour Homme belongs to the oriental woody olfactory group and was introduced in 1999, as a creation from the famous master perfumer from Chanel House, Jacques Polge. This is yet another classic example of the brilliant creations that granted the style and character to the Chanel perfumes. As the name suggests, this creation captivates you from the very beginning, implied by the fact that it is “the most potent, long lasting form of men’s fragrance”, as indicated in the official website. According to the same source, it is a fragrance that is “crisp and clean, warm and sexy. Impossible to resist.”
And it becomes clear that Jacques Polge delivered with Allure Pour Homme one of its masterpieces because this fragrance is structured over 4 main accords: the warm spice of pepper, the green freshness, the force and elegance of wood and finally, the warm sensuality of labdanum and tonka bean. And although the dominant notes are citruses, derived from lemon, you are still able to sense the tonka bean that is meant to create an appealing atmosphere as well. Allure Pour Homme opens with accords of: lemon, bergamot, peach, lavender, ginger and Mandarin orange. In the mid development, the notes are replaced by floral accords from: jasmine, freesia, gardenia and rose, which are combined with vetiver, patchouli, anise, cedar, and the sharpness of pepper with the style of Brazilian rosewood. For the dry down, the creator selected fine ingredients, represented by: amber, tonka bean, sandalwood, leather, musk, vanilla, oakmoss, coconut and benzoin.
The bottle inspires sheer elegance; the transparent glass that reveals the soft beige color of the liquid is fine complemented by the stopper and the name of the perfume that appears colored in brown.
