Cartier Roadster Sport is an elegant and sporty citrus aromatic that represents the active facet in perfumer, from the famous French jeweler and watchmaker. Introduced in November 2009 as a flanker to 2008’s Roadster, this scent follows the trend of sporty fragrances that dominated the market in the most recent years and is deemed as fresher compared to its predecessor.
Analyzed from the olfactory point of view, Roadster Sport is quite modified, substantiated by a structure in which the mint, vanilla and amber notes have been replaced by something which is closer to the definition of Eau de Cologne. As a result, Cartier Roadster Sport opens on an invigorating blend of citruses, which features accords of bergamot and mandarin. Later, as the perfume approached the mid development, the structure turns to a floral spicy facet, embodied by a combination of orange blossom, sage and rosemary. The dry down is the moment of shifting (again!) to a pungent note of black pepper, juxtaposed to a mix of patchouli and Guaiac wood.
Compared to my favorite citrus aromatic fragrance (Chanel Pour Monsieur), Roadster Sport seems a little bit unpolished, lacking the complexity of a living legend. The bottle that encloses the fragrance re-iterates the theme introduced with Roadster, with the shape that may be positioned horizontally or vertically, and highlighted by a red line that sports the perfume’s name and the color of the liquid, which has turned to a light green.
Overall, Roadster Sport is a subtle sportive fragrance, with an undermined elegance attached to its character.
