Fragrance Review

Each scent launched by my favorite perfume house, , represents a sheer olfactory pleasure. And if the fragrance benefits as well from an interesting story behind its development, the more intense is the excitement. 1681 is a fragrance for men belonging to the aromatic spicy olfactory group which was introduced by in the year 2010. The source of inspiration that granted the name to this special scent is represented by the year 1681, the time when the monks completed the rebuilding works of the Charterhouse, which coincided as well with the moment of producing their first perfume, using the available spices and herbs found on the beautiful Island of .

I tested 1681 last summer and on this occasion, I discovered the perfect summer fragrance, in which the citrus and herbal notes are cleverly mixed into offering that perfect sensation for the period with hot weather. The official site mentions that 1681 is “A fragrance characterized by the strong essence of incense typical of the old military and the ecclesiastical circles that inspired the fragrance. A bouquet of scents of great charm and character, able to seduce and conquer.”

Sprayed on my wrist, the first accords of 1681 revealed an extremely pleasant citrus character; the combination encompassed mandarin, , coriander, red thyme oil and rosemary. At that time, I knew immediately that I included 1681 on my “to buy” list. Then, in the mid development, the accords of iris, neroli, lavender, petit grain and constructed an olfactory symphony that brought joy to my senses. As I was overwhelmed by this ideal fragrance, the exquisite dry down included elegant notes of sandal, , musk and sweet vanilla, all wrapped in warm amber and incense.

Presented in a bottle which is similar with the ones from the Carthusia line of fragrances, 1681 substantiates its by the perfectly cut shapes of the transparent glass revealing a soft yellow liquid, the label that looks as if it was handmade and the black stopper which adds style to this image.

If you want a perfume with a unique character, capable of attaching a presence to your style, 1681 comes as the perfect choice.
