Back in 2004, Carolina Herrera introduced a new fragrance, called Chic For Men, and at that time I was so obsessed with it, that in a period of two weeks subsequent to my first sampling of this new scent, I was already buying it. In that period, this was the only scent in my collection however the perfume was very fascinating, adding a touch of refined elegance to my style.
Chic For Men belongs to the woody spicy olfactory group and was developed by a trio of perfumers: Carlos Benaim, Jean-Marc Chaillan and Ann Gottlieb. When I first tested the scent, I was fascinated by its spicy heart sufficient to desire it badly. The construction of Chic For Men opens on a fresh citrus note, a concoction from frosted lemon, cardamom, watermelon note and mandarin orange. Then, in about 20 minutes the heart revealed to me the combination of suede note, Ceylonese cinnamon, and black pepper. Finally, in the dry down the whole structure is balanced by a mixture of sandalwood, Virginia cedar, warm amber, musk and Tonka bean.
The bottle that holds Chic For Men represents an example of elegance. The shape that brings to mind an ink bottle is manufactured from transparent glass, which reveals a pale yellow liquid. Launched one year after its feminine counterpart, Chic For Men delivers an interesting contrast between freshness and soft sensuality, being the ideal fragrance for a man with a creative personality.
