Over the years, Bvlgari was one of the fashion houses that did not let me down, mainly because of its classic character, imbued with passion and the quality of the things well done. My interest was aroused with 2004’s Blv Notte (the evening versions, feminine and masculine of the classic BLV, from 2000 and 2001, respectively) discovered only in 2008, and since then, every time I get a chance to sample some of this house’s creations, I enjoyed the opportunity.
The most recent occasion of this kind happened last week, when I asked my wife to help me by testing Omnia Crystalline, the feminine floral aquatic fragrance from 2005. Introduced as the first flanker to the classic 2003’s Omnia and developed by the famous perfumer Alberto Morillas, this perfume was reportedly aimed at the Asian market, due to its light and fresh character.
Compared to the oriental spicy facet found in the original Omnia, this scent exhibits a more pronounced aquatic character, with sufficient personality in order not to be labeled as tedious. Having accords of Nashi pear, bamboo, lotus flower and Balsa wood, Omnia Crystalline is described on the official website with the phrases “a sparkling jewel of light, illuminating and reflecting gentle sensuality and luminous femininity” and “a thrilling composition of delicate floral harmonies”.
The pear note from the opening is followed quickly by something that I perceived as fresh and somewhat green; the woody notes from the dry down are quite strong, compared to what I imagined a feminine floral aquatic should smell like. The flacon that contains Omnia Crystalline has the same “jewel-like” shape as the original, excepted this time was colored in silver. Overall, this fragrance is perfect for the spring and summer time of the year.
