I read a post recently which stated that the majority of Bvlgari fragrances are well constructed and I couldn’t agree more. Nevertheless, this affirmation implies a certain minority which could be represented by the most recent launch in the men line from Bvlgari. Introduced in 2010, Bvlgari Man is an oriental woody fragrance developed by perfumer Alberto Morillas. The details according to which the scent belongs to a famous house and was created by a famous designer would normally guarantee the recipe for success however the final result seemed to me quite inspired.
I tested Bvlgari Man soon after its release and I was extremely surprised by its poor persistence (at least on my skin!) and the overall projection. The creation of Mr. Morillas begins with a pleasant combination of violet leaves, Calabrian bergamot, white pear and lotus flower. Then, after no more that 15 minutes, the mid development is revealed in an elegant blend of white wood, vegetal amber, cashmere wood sandalwood, cypriol and vetiver. After no more than 2 hours, the fragrance was gone, however I detected in the dry down the aroma of white honey, imbued in musk, Oliban Tonka bean and benzoin.
The fragrance is meant to offer a fresh olfactory style for the Bvlgari man, a person embodied by a sophisticated gentleman, both powerful and innovative. The face selected for the advertising campaign is the charming British actor Clive Owen, who is featured in an absolutely amazing black and white video that transmits the core values of the brand. The bottle’s design exhibits a perfectly shaped transparent glass, which reveals a liquid that is transparent as well, topped by an elegant metal stopper.
