London for Men Special Edition is a limited edition fragrance arrived on the market in October 2008, together with its feminine counterpart, London for Women Special Edition, as flankers to the popular 2006’s perfumes called London for Men and London for Women.
As a woody spicy masculine developed by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu, London for Men Special Edition is built around the accords of green apple, in order to convey to the bearer a sensation of refreshment. This new perfume marks as well a new line of fabrics and colors for the fashion house of Burberry highlighted by the leather-look chocolate-brown material that envelope the two flasks. The shape of the flacons is maintained from the original editions, while the packaging box sports the text “Special Edition” in the lower part.
London for Men Special Edition starts off with a fruity-citrus aroma that encompasses notes of cinnamon, pepper, bergamot and green apple. After this heady opening, comes a floral heart, shaped from violet and freesia notes, mixed with the unmistakable aroma of lavender and rosemary. The dry down is the time in which London for Men Special Edition turns to a woody facet, thanks to a combination of patchouli, oak, musk and ambrofix (a Givaudan molecule that replicates the ambergris note).
In spite of the fact that, for me, London for Men is one of the most interesting scents from Burberry in the last period, I would choose London for Men Special Edition anytime, since this is as well a very pleasant scent, most suitable for a man with an innate sense of style and class.
