The 17th men’s fragrance from Hugo Boss, Boss Selection was launched in 2006 as an aromatic fougere. And because this is not my favorite scent from Hugo Boss (that is Hugo!), Boss Selection is the type of clear perfume that does not impress me, nor I hate it, I simply believe that the marketing team considered that something of this type was needed, and as a result, Boss Selection was born.
The main accords of Boss Selection are represented by the musky, citrus, and woody ones, from where it was generated the cleanliness of the fragrance. Boss Selection begins with citrus notes, combining grapefruit and Mandarin orange with bergamot and pink pepper. The middle notes include star anise, geranium, cedar leaves and petitgrain. The base comes with patchouli, musk, vetiver and cedarwood, the dominant note of musk being the one that accompanies your senses at this stage. The fragrance behaves very well during its entire development phase, leaving almost no dominant note, except maybe the pink pepper.
Boss Selection is fronted by German actor Thomas Kretchman, best known for the part of Leutnant Hans Von Witzland in the 1993 film “Stalingrad”. The bottle for this fragrance was created by Lutz Herman, a designer with 12 years of experience in the domain. Made from transparent glass, the flask is intended to reveal the soft blue color of the liquid and the masculinity of the person that wears this scent.
Judging by its subtle character, Boss Selection might be an inspired choice for a business meeting.
