Fragrance Review

This is the perfume that became a legend and was retired from the perfumery shelves. Boss Number One is the first ever perfume launched by the German fashion house of Hugo Boss. The fragrance was introduced in 1985 as an , developed by perfumer . I had the opportunity to sniff it for the first time 10 years ago, thanks to a friend of mine, who used Boss Number One as his at that time.

According to the description from the official website this is “a fragrance for the man who never settles for less than the best” and nothing more can be added to match this statement, except we are talking abiut a true classic. Boss Number One opens on a blend of citruses and spices, built with grapefruit, lemon, , caraway, green apple, basil, juniper and Artemisia. In the mid development, the floral facet of this construction is revealed, with the accords from honey, sage, geranium, Rose, Lily-of-the-Valley, jasmine, orris root and lavender. For the final part, the base encompasses sandalwood, amber, patchouli and cinnamon, white musk, tobacco, cedar and oakmoss. Boss Number One exhibits a pleasant projection on the skin, throughout all 3 development stages.

The bottle that encloses the fragrance is simple, yet very elegant. The transparent glass that reveals a golden shade liquid is excellent contrasted by the black chromatic of the packaging box, in which the name of the perfume and the brand appear written in white. Overall, Boss Number One is a remarkable fragrance for the man with exquisite taste defined by a classic fashion style.
