Fragrance Review

The third iteration from the popular 2002’s Boss in Motion is called Boss in Motion Black and was introduced in May 2006 as a Eau de Toilette, “inspired (apparently) by the moment of victory”. Described as a masculine , Boss in Motion Black was developed by perfumer .

The line of Boss in Motion is in my mind associated with an active man, and after its debut I can not say that I was impressed. Following closely both 2004’s Boss in Motion Blue and 2005’s Boss in Motion Green left me with the same image of a well-behaved type of fragrance, therefore I imagined Boss in Motion Black could be the first from the series with some interesting aroma to share. And I am glad that I was right.

The olfactory structure of this scent remains faithful to the usual pyramid, with the top, heart and base notes. I remember that I tested Boss in Motion Black on my skin over 6 years ago (sweet memories!), with one month after its arrival on the market and the first pleasant impression was the refreshing citrus aroma that invaded the air from the first whiff. I was able to detect the unmistakable aroma of bergamot however the other notes included kumquat (the Japanese fruit similar to an orange) and grapefruit. Then, while this initial aroma vanished, I was faced with the spicy notes of ginger and cardamom, juxtaposed to floral accords from blue lotus and sage. After a couple of hours, the dry down phase offered balance to the composition and a reassuring warmth, brought in by the accords of sandalwood and myrrh and including as well tobacco and vanilla.

The flacon that holds Boss in Motion Black exhibits the same sphere shape from its predecessors, but painted in black this time to match the name. Overall, this fragrance is my favorite from the series however do try it on your own, for a more personal experience.
