Fragrance Review
Introduced early this year, Boss Bottled Sport is one more masculine fragrance dedicated to the world of sports, in a preview of the upcoming Olympic Games. A flanker to 1998’s Boss Bottled (actually the second flanker, after Boss Bottled Night), this fresh and dynamic citrus aromatic fragrance is fronted by Jenson Button, the British Formula One driver and 2009 World Driver’s Champion.
On the official website, Boss Bottled Sport is described as an “energetic fragrance that sharpens your senses, the perfect preparation for the challenge”, however I wish it would have been more powerful, because in my personal Sport Fragrances List for 2012 this not even enters Top 3, coming on a decent fourth spot, way behind L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Sport, Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme and The One Sport. And I still haven’t test Kenzo Homme Sport and Hilfiger Man Sport.
When sprayed onto the wrist, Boss Bottled opens on a sharp citrus blend, composed of grapefruit, yuzu and pink pepper, an aroma which settles down in less than 2 minutes. After a period of approximately 20 minutes, the heart is unveiled in an elegant combination of lavender and cardamom, mixed with aldehydic notes, which represent the spirit of this scent. In order to offer a beautiful conclusion, the dry down happens in a couple of hours, characterized by a strong aroma and persistence, due to the combination of vetiver, Tonka bean and patchouli, which all confer a powerful and pleasant trail.
The bottle that holds Boss Bottled Sport has the shame shape as the original, except this time is manufactured from frosted glass, while the packaging box exhibits a carbon fiber pattern, in order to evoke the high-performance nature of this fragrance. The video commercial emphasizes on the invigorating character of Boss Bottled Sport at the same time as this dynamic, yet quite subtle perfume, happens to be appropriate for a man who enjoys taking part in sports activities.
