Body Kouros is a fragrance that conveys masculinity upon the first glimpse or as described on the official website “a frank and liberated masculinity” and “a daring and modern reinterpretation of the Kouros universe”. I sampled it many times and every time it offers me a pleasant surprise, however this is not the type of perfume that I include in my wardrobe. If I had to choose, for a conspicuous masculine image I would go for Antaeus.
Body Kouros is a flanker to the iconic 1981’s Kouros, however this classification is quite poor because we are talking about a perfume that is of the same value as the original. Belonging to the oriental spicy olfactory group, Kouros is a fragrance introduced in 2000 and developed by perfumer Annick Menardo. Resorting to a relatively few amount of ingredients, the perfumer managed to achieve a complex effect that remains for a long time in your memory.
The composition of Body Kouros opens on an innovative blend of eucalyptus and incense, aimed at capturing your attention from the start. Then, as the scent advances into the mid development, a combination of Chinese cedar and mace settles the atmosphere for the final phase, a totally enchanting benzoin accord, coupled with the note of camphor wood.
Body Kouros comes in a flacon which is reinterpreting the theme presented by Kouros’s bottle, this time the metallic black material that covers the transparent glass allows seeing the liquid only in the lower and upper parts. The stopper is made from the same dark metal that suggests a brute force, while the video advertisement evokes a protruding masculinity which may be offensive for some people.
