Robert Piguet is a famous French designer who established his house in 1933. The man who was considered “the most Parisian of fashion designers” passed away in 1953, two years after closing the fashion house, however the rights for the fragrance business have since passed through several hands, to finish by being currently in the possession of Fashion Fragrances & Cosmetics.
The line of perfumes was inaugurated in 1944 with Bandit (which benefited from a re-launch in 1999) a fragrance classified as feminine chypre floral and developed by perfumer Germaine Cellier. Described on the official website as “the perfect fragrance for creating an aura of mischief”, Bandit was “the first chypre fragrance to incorporate smoky and leathery notes”. At the suggestion of a sales person I tested Bandit; a good opportunity to discover a very interesting perfume, a true classic with a perfect conception.
Even tough on that occasion the perfume was recommended me as unisex, yet I perceived it more feminine, with only a slight masculine touch. It is, if you want, the fragrance for the powerful women who adore showing off their personality. Bandit opens with notes of bergamot, orange, galbanum, ylang-ylang, neroli, gardenia, Artemisia and aldehydes. Later, the mid development reveals a blend from floral accords with rose, jasmine, violet root and carnation. For the final, the previous notes dry down to a musky leathery base composed of myrrh, vetiver, oakmoss, civet, white musk, patchouli, warm amber and the most important, an aggressive leather note.
The bottle that holds Bandit oozes with refined elegance, with the square shape of the black opaque glass that is contrasting with the white color of the writing. Bandit is the ideal fragrance for the daring woman who doesn’t mind the idea of making public her audacity.
