Fragrance Review

The fragrant pair Flor de Naranjo and Madera de Naranjo was introduced in the summer of 2011, as part of ’s line called “Sélection de Mémoires” which encompassed as well, 2009’s Ambre Frais and 2007’s Esprit de Gingembre. With such suggestive names (Spanish version for “Orange Blossom”, the feminine version and “Orange Wood” the masculine version!) their positioning in the olfactory group is more than obvious however both are more than the usual citruses.

As I wrote in here earlier, Madera de Naranjo impressed my so much last summer in , that I wanted to buy it immediately (it was very appropriate for the torrid days, which are a feature of the Catalan capital!), sadly, the intention never become reality. As for its feminine counterpart, my wife gave up at my urges and accepted to sample Flor de Naranjo on her skin, in order to verify if both perfumes had the same enchanting aroma.

To my pleasant surprise, this fragrance delivered exactly what I was hoping for: a refreshing opening note of citrus, followed by a soft floral mid development and settling down after a couple of hours into a musky-woody dry down effect. Flor de Naranjo top notes are bergamot, lemon, orange, tangerine and galbanum; is heart is Lily-of-the-Valley, rose petals and orange blossom; and its base includes notes of cedar wood, patchouli leaves, oakmoss, sweet vanilla and white musk.

The flacon that holds Flor de Naranjo exhibits an elegant and rectangular shape, being made from transparent glass (which allows the inspection of a yellow hue liquid) and topped by a stylish black stopper adorned with a silvery portion in its lower part.
