Amouage Lyric Man – A Deep Rose infused with Incense

Amouage Lyric Man_EdP

Fragrance Review

One more fragrance that becomes part of my relentless search for an ideal -based fragrance is Lyric Man from , a scent introduced in September 2008 (as usual at the same time with its feminine counterpart, Lyric Woman) and developed by perfumer (the other member of this pair was authored by ). For this particular case, it is all about a special dedicated to the note of rose, or excellently described by the official website as “a dedication to the rose infused with angelica”.

And because I could say that I’m a little familiar with Amouage’s passionate creations (one can never exhaust a topic, don’t you agree?), I placed Lyric Man on my “selected for a test” list, as soon as I found out its composition. I admit from the start that I was expecting more incense and less of a sweet character, instead the scent delivered something a little too much for my taste. Therefore, in spite of its special character, I excluded Lyric Man from a potential acquisition on the future.

The perfume develops nicely on the skin, with all three phases of the classic pyramid and an average persistence. So,  if you’re after an oriental fragrance with a syrupy touch, produced the way these type of scents are supposed to be (here I’m talking about the attention to details and employing the habitual ingredients from the Middle Eastern perfumery: and myrrh), I’ll suggest to go out and discover it for yourself.

Lyric Man starts off with a refreshing mix of citruses, shaped from bergamot and lime, followed quite rapidly (in no more than 10 minutes!) by a heart infused with bouquet of precious flowers. As a result, the mid development features accords such as: angelica, rose, orange blossom, spicy ginger, green galbanum, saffron and nutmeg. Then, in a time frame of about 90 minutes, Lyric Man transforms into a woodsy base built around the accords of pine and sandalwood, juxtaposed to vanilla and musk and infused with frankincense.

As you might suspect, the flacon that holds the essence is represented by Amouage’s singnature bottle, painted in red as a reminder of the note that inspired its composition. Overall, this might be an ideal choice for a man who is not afraid of pursuing his desires.
