We are talking about a legendary perfume that was launched in 1996, but it was not until 2002 that I discovered Acqua di Gio. To be more precise, this was actually my second bottle of perfume that I had, therefore it is ideal for bringing me back happy memories.
This fragrance created by Alberto Morillas belongs to the aromatic aquatic group and evokes sunny days on the beach, enjoying a careless and free life. It is the combination of notes that makes it sensational and this is as well the reason behind its constant popularity in time. Acqua di Gio starts with notes of bergamot, lemon, mandarin orange and lime, beautifully mixed with jasmine, to create a composition that burst with freshness. This fresh creation moves into the middle notes using coriander, nutmeg, violet and sea notes. It is like you almost feel the touch of Mediterranean water. For the big ending, the base notes are the result of combining white musk, cedar, patchouli and amber for creating something truly unique.
Acqua di Gio reminds of wind and air and it feels like you are carried away on a serene island, the moment you spray it on your skin. The minimalistic design of the bottle and the packing box extends the aquatic feeling atmosphere, which appears in the advertisement as well.
This fragrance is suitable for a young man, who loves sport and freedom. There was a time when Acqua di Gio was ubiquitous, which is not the case anymore. Nevertheless, the perfume is excellent for a summer day, even though I do recommend testing it before buying. At the same time, it makes a fine gift for almost any age group, so if you ran out of ideas, you might as well consider this fragrance from Giorgio Armani, because you can’t go wrong.
