I don’t know about you, but I simply find the perfume samples packed in an envelope something that looks cheap and is totally unusable. I am perfectly aware of the fact that this solution is cost effective compared to the vials with atomizer but come on, perfumery is not for everyone and this is a domain in which the presentation makes the product. However, I still do not understand why Givenchy, in spite of its solid reputation continues to flood the market with samples that aren’t making any promotion (in fact they are doing it quite the opposite) and as a result I promised myself that the next time I will be offered in Sephora something like this I will turn it down, because those are barely usable to test a perfume, spraying is almost mission impossible.
From the many envelope samples received over the last year by my wife, I selected yesterday for sniffing Absolutely Irresistible, occasion on which I discovered scent that is interesting enough. In spite of my initial reticence, this perfume is well done and deserves your attention. Absolutely Irresistible is a flanker to 2003’s Very Irresistible and was introduced in the autumn of 2008 as a floral feminine fragrance.
In the middle of the numerous flankers launched by Givenchy after the huge success of Very Irresistible I felt overwhelmed and refused to test Absolutely Irresistible at the moment of its launch. Nevertheless, time proved me that I was wrong and I almost missed a perfectly wearable fragrance for the spring and summer time of the year.
Absolutely Irresistible has a white floral composition sustained by its dominant accord: jasmine. Its top notes are mandarin orange, red berries and red pepper; its heart is jasmine, orange blossom and heliotrope; its base is cedar, patchouli and amber. The moment you are spraying Absolutely Irresistible onto the skin you will experience the aroma of mandarin orange, which evolves quite fast into an orange blossom that stays close to the skin in the beginning. Thankfully, that final part of the mid development and the dry down are compensating and the perfume becomes more present.
The bottle that holds Absolutely Irresistible is a re-interpretation of the original shape sported by Very Irresistible, which comes made from red transparent glass this time, to emphasize the passion facet. The fragrance is fronted by the American actress and model Liv Tyler, who became a reference in Very Irresistible marketing campaigns.
